Bent Tree Homes

Neighborly Duties

To maintain our community, their are certain things we need to do to ensure that our community remains a vibrant and welcoming environment. Below you’ll find things that can help you be a good neighbor to the fellow members of your neighborhood. Included on this page is also a list of things we, as a community, should work to accomplish.

To be a good neighbor, you should:

  • Mow your lawn regularly
  • Weed front flower beds
  • Keep tree and bush branches trimmed away from sidewalk
  • Trim bushes
  • Keep sidewalk clear of snow
  • Maintain lamppost
  • Replace driveway and sidewalks when necessary
  • Edge sidewalk once a year
  • Don’t block the sidewalk
  • Keep your house looking reasonable from the street view
  • Don’t park junker cars needing repair in driveway for extended periods
  • Make sure your pets don’t bother neighbors
  • Politely listen to neighbors who have issues with your home maintenance
  • Notify and discuss with neighbors before erecting a fence or shed
  • Help maintain common grounds (a couple hours a year)

To be a better neighbor, you should:

  • Edge your sidewalk monthly
  • Sweep sidewalk after mowing
  • Weed all flower beds
  • Ask neighbor before planting something that may infringe on their yard
  • Kill weeds and grass growing in sidewalk/driveway cracks
  • Help maintain common grounds (a couple hours a month)

To be the best neighbor, you should:

  • Edge sidewalk every mowing
  • Act on all issues brought to you by neighbors
  • Weed and fertilize lawn
  • Help maintain common grounds (couple hours a week in summer)

We hope that volunteers will take the time to help complete these tasks. As a community, it’s important that we spend time working together for the betterment of our homes. Let a trustee know when you will accomplish the task:

  • Weed beds by the entrance (anyone can help)
  • Weed beds by the pool (again, anyone can help)
  • Pick up any trash anywhere in Bent Tree
  • Have 10-12″ rocks you don’t need? We have a spot for them
  • Paint pool house doors (take off, remove rust paint, reinstall)
  • Help clean up the wooded areas
  • Send a trustee a project idea
